Making the Most of a Narrow Kitchen

Space: 120 sq. ft. Wet Kitchen

Timeline: 10-14 Weeks

Goal: More Storage

Anyone living in an RPN terrace in Rimba knows the struggle—the wet kitchens are long, narrow blocks. This family of five came to us needing more prep space, but if we just added standard cabinets, no one would be able to walk past the open doors.

The trick here was going vertical and throwing out the standard rules. We scrapped swing doors entirely on the lower run. If a door swings out 600mm, it completely blocks the walkway. Instead, we used deep drawers on heavy-duty 50kg runners. You pull them out, grab what you need, and push them shut without stepping back.

We also installed a floor-to-ceiling 'Space Tower' for the pantry and squeezed a Higold Magic Corner into the blind intersection.

The Takeaway

When you can't build wider, build taller. The vertical pantry alone added about 30% more usable storage than standard shelving.

Modern Minimalist Architecture

Finish: PETG Matte Charred Oak

Hardware: Full Blum TANDEMBOX

Goal: Perfect Integration

A private villa in Subok requiring extreme joinery precision. We used 0.1mm CNC tolerance to create scribe panels that sit perfectly flush against architectural features. No filler strips, no visible gaskets.

The Takeaway

High-end PETG finishes provide the luxury matte look of lacquer with the structural durability needed for Brunei's humidity levels.

Location: Kota Batu / Riverfront

Zero-HCHO (ENF) Humidity Defense

Environment: High Humidity (85%+)

Safety: Zero-HCHO (ENF Grade)

Material: ENF Grade Plywood

This house sits right near the Brunei River in Kota Batu. Beautiful spot, but an absolute nightmare for standard cabinetry. Their old chipboard cabinets were swelling, peeling, and smelled musty from the constant salty, humid air coming off the water. The owners were fed up and wanted something that would actually last—and they wanted it safe for their kids without any chemical off-gassing.

We completely stripped out the old materials. No HMR board, no standard particleboard. We built the core structure entirely from ENF-grade plywood—it's the highest safety rating globally for zero chemical gas emissions, and it doesn't soak up moisture like a sponge.

To seal the deal against the river air, we ran 1mm high-impact PVC edging through our machine at 190°C to lock out humidity permanently, and topped it off with solid, non-porous Quartz.

The Takeaway

You can't fight the river air with lower-cost board. Plywood and proper heat-sealed edges are the only way to survive that kind of microclimate long-term. Learn more in our humidity science guide.

Compact Galley Efficiency

Housing: RPN Terrace

Tech: High-Vertical Storage

Material: 18mm Moisture Resistant

Standard RPN housing often features narrow kitchen layouts. We maximized this 3.2m galley by using full-height floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and deep drawer systems to replace inefficient shelves.

The Takeaway

Galley kitchens don't have to feel small. By keeping the color palette light and maximizing verticality, we made this RPN unit feel twice its size.

Location: Jerudong Park Area

The "Social Island" Concept

Type: Dry Kitchen / Entertainment

Feature: Waterfall Island

Tech: Push-to-Open (Handleless)

Dry kitchens in Brunei aren't really for cooking—they're the social hub of the house. The client in Jerudong wanted this space to look like a piece of high-end furniture, not a utility room, because it's the first thing guests see when they walk in.

The focus here was entirely on unbroken lines and clean surfaces. We fabricated a massive island with a Quartz 'waterfall' edge, putting in the extra time to manually grain-match the stone veins across the 45-degree mitered turn so it looks like one solid block.

We stripped off all handles and pulls, fitting everything with Blum's TIP-ON mechanical push-to-open systems. Even fully loaded, the heavy pot drawers pop open with just a light tap from a knee or hip. We also hid all the task lighting by routing recessed LED profiles directly into the cabinet bases.

Frequently Solved Problems

Why do you use ENF Plywood instead of HMR/Chipboard?

Health and longevity come first. No HMR. No chipboard. ENF Grade Plywood that meets the "Zero-HCHO (ENF Grade)" standard. Safer for your family. Stronger against humidity than standard untreated particle boards.

Can you service Kuala Belait and Seria?

Yes. We work in Belait. We transport pre-assembled carcasses to KB for efficient on-site installation. See all service areas.

What is the best countertop for heavy cooking?

For heavy cooking (tumis/frying), we recommend Quartz or Sintered Stone. Quartz is scratch- and heat-resistant. Ideal for active Bruneian wet kitchens.

Do you provide 3D designs before building?

Yes. We model layouts and finishes in 3D before we cut a single board. That keeps the technical details aligned with your vision.
