The F&B Challenge
In high-volume F&B environments, standard melamine edge-banding degrades rapidly. The constant exposure to steam from espresso machines and liquid spills causes typical imported MDF counters to swell within 14 months, leading to costly operational downtime for cafe owners.
For this Jerudong barista station, we were tasked with building a solution that eliminated this failure mode:
- Condensation-proof carcass using 18mm ENF-grade solid plywood (never MDF)
- Pre-drilled plumbing ports CNC-routed for ice machines and grease traps
- 40kg-rated tandem runners to support heavy commercial grinders
- Zero-expansion joints engineered for Jerudong's 90% morning humidity

Commercial Execution Timeline
Precision laser measurement around existing pillars. Deep consultation with the head barista to establish workflow ergonomics and equipment clearances.
All panels cut via CNC in our local facility. We deployed our specialized 190°C EVA hot-melt adhesive specifically to combat the high-moisture F&B environment.
To minimize disruption to neighboring retail units, the pre-assembled carcass modules were fitted during off-peak hours with SUS304 kickboards.
Plumbing drops for the espresso flush system and heavy-duty 40kg cabinet hardware load testing completed. Final sign-off by cafe management.
What Made This Work
190°C Thermal Edge Sealing
The primary point of failure for cafe counters is edge delamination due to steam. Our German EVA hot-melt application melts at a high 190°C, bonding the 1.5mm ABS edge tape so tightly that moisture penetration is mechanically blocked.
SUS304 Plinth Protection
Mop water and spilled milk destroy wooden kickboards within months. We installed solid SUS304 stainless steel baseboards that handle daily commercial floor washing without deterioration.
Heavy-Duty Hardware
Standard household hinges fail under barista workloads. We bypassed standard Blum runs for over-spec commercial slides rated for 40kg, ensuring drawers loaded with portafilters and tampers glide silently, hundreds of times daily.
On-Time Delivery
Confirmed Week 0, handed over Week 12 — exactly as promised. No import delays because everything is fabricated locally.
