The original Rimba kitchen is enclosed and small (5–7 ft). STKRJ Rimba terrace houses were built across several phases, with the original units featuring enclosed rear kitchen zones that don't suit modern cooking habits. Renovating here requires working within HDD and ABCi structural guidelines while maximizing the usable footprint.

Regulation Note: Frontage setbacks in Rimba are strictly enforced. Rear extensions are generally permitted only if a 2-metre setback from the boundary is maintained. Caramella does not handle structural works — we handle the cabinetry after your builder has confirmed compliance. All structural modifications must be verified by a Professional Engineer (PE).

Enclosed Kitchen Zones Original Rimba layouts have 5–7 ft enclosed kitchens. The most common upgrade is removing the non-load-bearing partition wall to open the kitchen into the dining area.

Moisture Wicking Floors Original Rimba floor finishes show higher-than-average moisture wicking, especially ground floor units. This directly affects how we mount base units.

Legacy Plumbing Positions Older Rimba units have plumbing stacks in fixed positions that constrain where the sink can go. We work around these rather than requiring pipe rerouting.

PVC / Aluminium Kickboards All base units use PVC or aluminium kickboards on adjustable legs — essential for Rimba's ground floor moisture wicking. No timber kickboards.

Blum CLIP Top Hinges Austrian-engineered hinges rated for 100,000+ cycles. Critical for Rimba family homes where kitchen doors open and close hundreds of times per week.

Matte PETG or HPL Doors Anti-fingerprint matte finish handles the high-traffic reality of active family kitchens. Doesn't show grease marks the way gloss finishes do.

Sintered Stone Countertop Heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, and non-porous. Handles the thermal shock of hot woks placed directly on the surface without cracking or staining.
